Don’t Miss the Life/Theater Community Day THIS Saturday!

July 13, 2009

What’s the difference between having lunch with your family on a Saturday afternoon, and creating a “scene” of a family having lunch on a Saturday afternoon? The answer….well you’ll just have to come to the Life/Theater Community Day to find out.

A trifecta of creative collaboration, Life/Theater Community Day is co-hosted by SECCA, Elsewhere Artist Collaborative, and Inside Out participating artist Lee Walton, and will be held at Elsewhere on Saturday, July 18, from 1-4 p.m.  During Community Day, Elsewhere will be transformed into multiple sets, each with a different “scene.” Ranging from things like a family lunch in the dining room/kitchen, to a fireside style chat in the library, to a backyard bbq, the “scenes” are inspired by types of everyday events, and Elsewhere’s unique spaces. Each scene will be equipped with lights, a camera, and a staff director. The only thing missing is YOU! Visitors participating in the event will bring each scene to life. And if you’re a little camera shy, don’t worry! What’s a scene without spectators? Watch other peoples’ scenes as they are streamed live to televisions placed at Elsewhere.

So find your motivation, center yourself, get into character, and head down to Elsewhere for what promises to be an exciting day for visitors of all ages!

And be sure to stick around for Lee Walton’s artist talk scheduled to take place during the event at 4 p.m. Lee will talk about his recent Small Plots performances, which he created as part of SECCA’s Inside Out: Artists in the Community II exhibition series.

Elsewhere Artist Collaborative is located at 606 & 608 S. Elm Street, Greensboro, NC 27406.
